Zindzi Mandela Daughter Of Winnie And Nelson Mandela Dies At 59 (Video)
Zindzi Mandela, daughter of former South African president Nelson Mandela, has died. She died in a Johannesburg hospital in the early hours of Monday morning, public broadcaster SABC said.
Zindzi Mandela, 59, was serving as South Africa’s ambassador to Denmark.
" This is untimely; she still had a role to play in the transformation of our own society and a bigger role to play even in the African National Congress,’’ said Pule Mabe the Spokesperson of the ruling party the African National Congress.
President Cyril Ramaphosa in a statement said Zindzi Mandela had "during our years of struggle brought home the inhumanity of the apartheid system and the unshakeable resolve of our fight for freedom".
Zindzi Mandela was the one chosen by Nelson Mandela to read out his rejection of then-president PW Botha's offer for conditional release from prison at a public meeting in February 1985.
