 Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Joachim Cabanyes, a spanish priest of the Opus Dei Prelature, died from COVID-19 on Saturday at University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH) isolation centre. 

This was disclosed by the Rev Fr. Nkemjika Igweshi, Secretary of the Enugu Catholic Diocese. He said Fr. Cabanyes has served the Nigerian Church for 28 years.

                 Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Godwin Emefiele, used a private jet to fly his wife and children to the United Kingdom in violation of the closure of the Nigerian airspace during COVID-19 lockdown across the country. The Nigerian Government had announced that only essential travels will be permitted by air across the country but flight manifest sighted by SaharaReporters shows that  Emefiele used a private jet – a Global Express Bombardier 550 luxury jet with registration number N104DA – belonging to businessman, Aliko Dangote. It costs at least $10,000 per hour – about N3.8m – to fly on this luxury jet.         The flight was operated by Executive Jet Services co-owned by Dangote and Sam Iwajoku – the  same company embroiled in a recent controversy over the violation of the nation’s lockdown  by flying musician, Naira Marley, to Abuja from Lagos to perform at a concert at Jabi Lake Mall....

President Trump redeems his pledge to Nigeria

      The US President, Donald Trump has redeemed the promise he made on April 28 that his administration will donate 200 ventilators to Nigeria to help them fight the incursion of COVID-19. On Tuesday the Nigerian Government the 200 ventilators promised by Trump. Receiving the ventilators on behalf of the federal government from the USAID/US government , the Minister for Health Dr.Osagie Ehanire expressed gratitude to President Trump and the US government for the ventilators.   Dr. Ehanire said: "This donation consists of 200 ventilators, which, as we all know by now, are a critical component of the response strategy to save the lives of persons who have been severely impacted by this viral infection.
