Most Contracts in NDDC awarded to National Assembly Members,..That is how it has been - Godswill Akpabio

Most contracts in NDDC are awarded to National Assembly members ...

The Minister of Niger Delta, Godswill Akpabio has disclosed to the House of Representatives Committee that most contracts awarded in the Niger Delta Development Commission were to the National Assembly members.
The disclosure was made to the committee investigating financial malfeasance in the NDDC.

He said, “Most of the contracts at NDDC are handled by members of the National Assembly. That is how it has been."
He also denied being aware that the NDDC management spent over N81 billion. He also threw more light on Joy Nunieh suspension. He said that Joy Nunieh was suspended for not having National Youth Services Corps certificate.

Responding to Minister Akpabio, the chair of the  House of Representatives committee Hon. Thomas Ereyitomi accused Akpabio of lying under oath.
He said, "I have listened attentively through all your submissions but I just want to tell you one thing, you came here to mislead the parliament and you are under oath. That is what you have done deliberately.

"You decided to just come here and mislead the parliament. I want to put it to you that your submission and all the annexures, 8,9,10 and 11 are misleading.

"Before then, you said you have no link of any contract between yourself and NDDC, your job is just to supervise but correspondences show you have been given approval of forensic auditor and contracts."
