Abia State fights for inclusion in NDDC

The Abia State Government has written to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha to include Abia State in the five member Interim Management Committee of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC that may be constituted.

Dr Iboko Imo Iboko, the special adviser to the state governor made this known to the press on friday.

Excerpt of the letter states, “We, the Government and People of Abia State are keeping in fate that our plea and agitation will be given all necessary and kind consideration being given to other oil-producing states in the country. Please, accept our warm salutations on behalf of the Government and people of Abia State”.

Crude oil and gas production contribute to 39% of Abia state GDP. The state has about 100 oil wells and produces about 36,000 barrels of crude oil per day. Abia state have always complained of poor funding from its oil revenue federal allocation.
