Anambra State lawmaker push to investigate the state Road Traffic Management Agency

Mr Patrick Obiefuna, MD of Anambra State Road Traffic Management Agency (ATMA),  disclosed to the Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Public Accounts that his agency generated N6.2 million. He disclosed this while defending the agency’s financial transactions in 2019, before the state lawmakers. 


“The agency got N9 million from their approved budget to recruit 131 additional staff, buy uniforms, organise training, feed and pay the workers one month’s salary.

“Another N10 million used for the renovation of the ATMA headquarters was also approved for the agency in 2019,” he said.

Obiefuna also informed the committee that the agency has 463 workers operating in the state, and that it gets N1.5 million monthly as overhead.

However, Mr Somtochukwu Udeze (Ogbaru Il), Chairman of the House Committee on Public Accounts, expressed displeasure over the many alterations in the agency’s financial records.

Udeze said there was no proper record of revenue generated, and no record of how the monthly N1.5 million overhead was spent in the year under review.

“From all indications, fraud is going on in this agency and the legislature will beam its searchlight to monitor the financial transactions of the agency,” the lawmaker said.

Nigeria Central Bank Governor Breached The Quarantine To Fly Family To The UK

                 Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Godwin Emefiele, used a private jet to fly his wife and children to the United Kingdom in violation of the closure of the Nigerian airspace during COVID-19 lockdown across the country. The Nigerian Government had announced that only essential travels will be permitted by air across the country but flight manifest sighted by SaharaReporters shows that  Emefiele used a private jet – a Global Express Bombardier 550 luxury jet with registration number N104DA – belonging to businessman, Aliko Dangote. The former King of Spain leaves the country over alleged corruption

Spain's former monarch King Juan Carlos has left the country amid accusations he had a £58.5 million stashed in an offshore account.  The Spain authorities opened an investigation involving Juan Carlos in a high speed rail in Saudi Arabia. The money was alleged to be given to Juan Carlos by the former king of Saudi Arabia King Abdullah. His destination is unknown but he said he would be available if prosecutors needed to interview him. The Spanish royal family website published a letter from Juan Carlos to his son King Felipe VI on Monday saying, "I am informing you of my considered decision to move during this period, out of Spain."    The report against the former King of Spain alleged that he transferred a large sum of money to a friend in what investigators consider as an attempt to hide the money from authorities.
