Egypt social media influencer jailed for immoral videos released

      Egyptian social media in influencer Manar Samy has been released from jail. She was sentenced to 3 years imprisonment earlier this month for posting immoral videos on social media and stirring up instincts through her online videos according to the legal papers. She was released on bail of 20,000 Egyptian pounds.      The Court found her videos to be offensive to public decency. Samy has about 200,000 followers on the social media app TikTok. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi regime has a non-tolerant approach to social media influencers and freedom of expression.

Serial fraudster bags 53 years for N17.1 million fraud

            Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh has said she wanted to commit suicide 10-years ago, but was saved by Don Jazzy and Teebillz (Tiwa Savage ex-husband). She was reacting to the video of a Nigerian, Izu, who committed suicide and she said suicide should never be the only option for handling depression. She thanked Don Jazzy and Teebillz for coming to her rescue. Dr Dre files Answer to wife's Divorce petition... claims couple have prenup agreement

      Dr. Dre has filed his answer to his wife's petition for divorce. In the legal papers filed by his lawyer, Disso Queen Laura Wasser Dre claims that the couple has a pre-nuptial agreement.   Nicole Young married Dr. Dre in 1996 and in 2020 filed for divorce. In Nicole's divorce petition there was no mention of a prenup agreement. After dr. Dre sold his brands Beats by Dr. Dre to Apple for $3 billion, his estimated net worth in 2020 is $820 million dollars.     Dre in his answer to the divorce petition alleges that he is willing to pay Nicole spousal support and that the division of their assets should be governed by their prenup agreement. Nicole Young on her part is asking for spousal support and half of the assets.

                 The deputy governor of Ondo State, Agboola Ajayi, is expected to announce his move to the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) and will be adopted as the candidate of the party for the October 10 governorship election. Hon Agboola Ajayi, who defected from the All ProgressiveCongress (APC) to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but lost to Eyitayo Jegede, on the primaries is on his way to join ZLP having met with state and national leaders of the party. Hon. Ajayi's name will replace ZLP candidate Benjamin Rotimi.

Boko Haram attacked Governor Zulum after Army claimed they no longer in the town

        Governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulum has criticized the Nigerian army following an attack on his convoy in Baga on Wednesday night. F ifteen persons were injured on the  attack on his convoy. the attack occurred on the governor's visit to an Internally disposed persons (IDP) camp Baga town. Though the attack was repelled by security operatives in the governor’s convoy, there were casualties on the side of his entourage.       Senator Ali Ndume has condemned the Federal Government’s amnesty to terrorists, saying that a repentant Boko Haram member, who was recently integrated into the community, killed his father, stole his wealth and disappeared. He said it is a waste of public fund to try to reform terrorists. Middle East Airlines and Turkish Airlines collide in Lagos, Nigeria

       There has been a collision between two airplanes at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Lagos on Wednesday.  The two airplanes are an Airbus A330-243 owned by Middle East Airlines and a Boeing 777 airplane belonging to Turkish Airlines. The Turkish Airlines cargo flight was parked at the tarmac when the Middle East Airline taxiing ran into it.  The passengers in the Middle East Airline had to disembark when the airline ran into the Turkish airline. International flights are yet to commence full operation after the lockdown, the Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19 are still in talks with the Ministry of Aviation towards the resumption of international flights in the country.

Gunmen kill 14 persons in Kogi State

                 Unidentified gunmen has attacked the Abudu community in Kogi state killing  14 persons and 6 injured. 13 of the dead persons are from the same family.  The state commissioner of police, Ede Ayuuba, disclosed this to the newsmen in Lokoja, Kogi State. The State Commissioner also said that there have been long standing communal feud in the community.       The annual Hajj pilgrimage performed by Muslims started today in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.The pilgrimage which is very important to Muslims around the world will this year be scaled down because of coronavirus.  The pilgrimage which usually have over 2 million Muslims visit from all over the world will this year have about 10,000 local people visiting. Saudi Arabia has about 270,000 COVID-19 cases with nearly 3,000 deaths.     

President of Belarus test positive to COVID-19

      The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, has said he contracted coronavirus but recovered without suffering any symptoms. He called coronavirus a psychosis and refused to impose lockdown on the country he has been ruling since 1994. "I apologize for my voice, lately I have to talk a lot. But the most surprising thing is that today you are seeing a person who managed to power through coronavirus standing on his feet," he said during a visit to a military base. "Doctors made this conclusion yesterday — it was asymptomatic."

Dabiri Erewa informs NDDC to pay fees and allowances of student on their scholarship scheme

        The Chair of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM),  Mrs. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has called on the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to please come to the aid of students under their scholarship by paying their fees and allowances. She had written to the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio informing him of the difficulties that student on their scholarship scheme face in the United Kingdom. “The commission counts on the minister’s assurances that all outstanding payments to affected students will be made. At the moment, there have been persistent calls by the students for urgent intervention. “The deadline for payment of the fees of some of the students have expired or about to expire, non-payment of their allowances have turned many of them to virtually beggars,” she said.  

Two Pastors sentenced to 26 years for stealing

                   Justice F. N. Azinge of the Delta State High Court sitting in Otor-Udu has convicted and sentenced two pastors, Pastor Glory Okeoghene Aberefa and Reverend Vincent Okpogo to 16 and 10 years imprisonment respectively. The convicts, alongside their company, Mustard Seed Micro Investment Limited, were prosecuted by the Benin Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on 16-count charges, bordering on conspiracy to steal and stealing, contrary to Section 516 and 390 (9) of the Criminal Code, CAP 21, Vol 1, Laws of Delta State of Nigeria, 2006.                       Trouble started for the convicts, when under the guise of running a finance company, defrauded dozens of unsuspecting members of the public of millions of naira, through their fraudulent Mustard Seed Micro Investment Limited. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has secured the conviction of Air Vice Marshal Alkali Mohammadu Mamu. Mamu, a former Group Managing Director of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Holding Company and Air Force Commanding, Training Command, was pronounced guilty by the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja. This followed the appellate court’s reversal of his discharge and acquittal on corruption charges earlier pronounced by Justice Salisu Garba of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The three-man panel of the Court of Appeal, in a unanimous judgement on Tuesday, July 28, 2020, convicted and sentenced Mamu to two years’ imprisonment in respect of one (count two) out of the four counts. The judgment read by Justice Yargata Byenchit Nimpar, which also had Justices Abdu Aboki and Emmanuel Akomaye Agim acquitted him on three other counts – one, three and four.                   MacKenzie Bezos, novelist and the ex - wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, has revealed she has donated $1.7 billion to 116 charities over the past one year. MacKenzie Bezos, the second richest woman in the world with a net worth of $60 billion announced this on Tuesday.      The ex wife of Jeff Bezos stated that a large proportion of the money went to racial equality and justice causes. She donated $586.7 million to racial equality charities. She made the pledge in 2019 after her divorce. Nigerian Doctor in the US has gone viral for claiming that Hydroxychloroquine cures COVID-19 (Video)

A Nigerian trained doctor in the US Dr. Stella Immanuel has gone viral on social media for his speech on cure for COVID-19.  She said that   that the antimalarial drug — hydroxychloroquine, zinc and antibacterial drug — Zithromax, were effective cures for  the coronavirus disease.  In a speech she delivered in front of the US Supreme court in Washington D.C.she alleges that she  has treated  350 patients of COVID-19 with combination of Hydrochloroquine (HCQ), Zinc and Zithromax and only one died. She also said that one of her oldest patient is 93.Surrounded by other physicians Dr. Immanuel said it will be unethical  for a doctor to watch her patient die when there is a cure. Hydroxychloroquine has been promoted by the US President, Donald Trump. Trump even claimed that he has taken it.

Governor Patrick Obaseki responds to Adams Oshimhole's Comment

     Governor of Edo State, Patrick Obaseki has reacted to former National Chairman All Progressive Congress (APC),Adams Oshimole comment about him and why he hate him so much. During a political rally last week Adams Oshiomole said that he made a mistake by supporting Patrick Obaseki in the 2016 election against Ize Iyamu. Governor Obaseki has now defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after he was disqualified by APC.  Governor Obaseki's spokesman Crusoe Osagie said Oshimhole became a frustrated man after he found out he could not hijack Governor Obaseki's administration.       An Objections has been raised to Kanye West to be put on the Illinois ballot for president. The objection boarders on the signatures in his petition. In the State of Illinois any citizen can file an objection to the Illinois Board of Election to a candidate's name to be put on the ballot paper.  One of the objections raised against Kanye West petition is regarding the validity of the signatures. The Illinois Election Board will examine the evidence and decide if Kanye's name will appear or not. To be on the presidential ballot paper the candidate needs 2,500 signatures.            The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been thrown into mourning following the death of its Abia state chairman Johnson Onuigbo. According to TVC News, Onuigbo popularly known as Akinboard passed away late hours on Monday, July 27, after a brief illness. His body has been deposited at an undisclosed hospital mortuary in Umuahia. In another report by AIT, a source who spoke to the media house on the condition of anonymity said the cause of Onuigbo's death is not yet known. 

Group calls for the Presidency to take over supervision of Niger Delta

           Thomas Cromwell, 1st Earl of Essex (c. 1485 – 28 July 1540), was an English lawyer and statesman who served as chief minister to King Henry VIII of England from 1532 to 1540.         The Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has reacted to the allegation that some senators were awarded contract by Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). The minister for Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio, was rebuked by the senate for naming 3 senators  Mathew Urhoghide   James Manager and Peter Nwaoboshi among the people that were awarded contracts by NDDC.
