The former Governor of the old Anambra state Chief Jim Nwobodo attributed the death of his son Dr. Ifeanyichukwu Nwobodo jnr. to the negligence of the doctor. Jim as he is popularly called was narrating the story to the Abia state Governor, Mr Theodore Orji who paid him a condolence visit in Enugu. He said his son was receiving treatment in the United States for cancer but came back because of home sickness. According to Jim, when his son developed pain in the leg he went to see a consultant Oncologist who is the Dean of medicine in UNN but that instead of the consultant referring him to the UNTH which has better facilities he referred his son to his private clinic that is not properly equipped. He said "it is painful because this is something that can be averted".
