Lebanese ambassador to Nigeria react to video of Nigerian ladies stranded in Lebanon

Lebanese Ambassador to Nigeria, Houssam Diab, says most Nigerians in Lebanon were not trafficked but entered the country legally.

He spoke at a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, in Abuja.

Diab said the Nigerian ladies who called for help on the video clip on the social media were stranded because their employers have not been able to pay them due to the global economic crisis.

“As of May 1, the Lebanese government stopped issuing visas for domestic workers coming from Nigeria.”

NAN quoted him as saying about 90 percent of the travel agencies involved are Nigerian.

“They apply through Lebanese agencies in Lebanon through the security to acquire work visas and work permits for the ladies.”

The envoy added that most of the estimated 5,000 Nigerians living in his country were gainfully employed.

He confirmed that Lebanon and Nigeria had evacuated 500 ladies, with 200 more to be evacuated soon.

Nigeria Central Bank Governor Breached The Quarantine To Fly Family To The UK

                 Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Godwin Emefiele, used a private jet to fly his wife and children to the United Kingdom in violation of the closure of the Nigerian airspace during COVID-19 lockdown across the country. The Nigerian Government had announced that only essential travels will be permitted by air across the country but flight manifest sighted by SaharaReporters shows that  Emefiele used a private jet – a Global Express Bombardier 550 luxury jet with registration number N104DA – belonging to businessman, Aliko Dangote. The former King of Spain leaves the country over alleged corruption

Spain's former monarch King Juan Carlos has left the country amid accusations he had a £58.5 million stashed in an offshore account.  The Spain authorities opened an investigation involving Juan Carlos in a high speed rail in Saudi Arabia. The money was alleged to be given to Juan Carlos by the former king of Saudi Arabia King Abdullah. His destination is unknown but he said he would be available if prosecutors needed to interview him. The Spanish royal family website published a letter from Juan Carlos to his son King Felipe VI on Monday saying, "I am informing you of my considered decision to move during this period, out of Spain."    The report against the former King of Spain alleged that he transferred a large sum of money to a friend in what investigators consider as an attempt to hide the money from authorities.
