APC lawmakers takes over Edo state Assembly and elects new Speaker

    Edo Assembly impeaches Okiye, deputy, elects Victor Edoror Speaker‎

The All Progressive Congress (APC) has taken over Edo state House of Assembly as 12  lawmakers loyal to the party was sworn in and Hon Victor Edoror elected as the new speaker.
Mr. Sunday Aghedo, (APC Ovia SW) had moved a motion signed by the entire members calling for Okiye’s ouster. He was seconded by Hon Ohio Ezomo (APC Owan West).
Before the election, 12 out of the 14 members who were not sworn in last year took their oaths administered by Mr. Tom Efezokhae, the Deputy Clerk of the House.

The oath taking effectively made the 12 legislators of the state.

Seventeen members attended plenary at the end of which Hon Ohio moved for adjournment as the Speaker announced that plenary will resume Friday, August 7 2020.

In his address, Speaker Victor Edoror said the 7th Assembly will focus on its legislative duties, and not pursue the impeachment of any member of the Executive.

He called for unity and togetherness, stating that there was no victor, no vanquished.

Speaker Edoror also directed the Edo Commissioner of Police, the IGP, and other security agencies to eject the thugs who have invaded the Assembly Complex in Benin to allow for a rancor free plenary on Friday, August 7.

But in his reaction, the impeached Speaker, Hon. Frank Okiye, said “It’s a non issue, I don’t want respond to such issue”.

Nigeria Central Bank Governor Breached The Quarantine To Fly Family To The UK

                 Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Godwin Emefiele, used a private jet to fly his wife and children to the United Kingdom in violation of the closure of the Nigerian airspace during COVID-19 lockdown across the country. The Nigerian Government had announced that only essential travels will be permitted by air across the country but flight manifest sighted by SaharaReporters shows that  Emefiele used a private jet – a Global Express Bombardier 550 luxury jet with registration number N104DA – belonging to businessman, Aliko Dangote. The former King of Spain leaves the country over alleged corruption

Spain's former monarch King Juan Carlos has left the country amid accusations he had a £58.5 million stashed in an offshore account.  The Spain authorities opened an investigation involving Juan Carlos in a high speed rail in Saudi Arabia. The money was alleged to be given to Juan Carlos by the former king of Saudi Arabia King Abdullah. His destination is unknown but he said he would be available if prosecutors needed to interview him. The Spanish royal family website published a letter from Juan Carlos to his son King Felipe VI on Monday saying, "I am informing you of my considered decision to move during this period, out of Spain."    The report against the former King of Spain alleged that he transferred a large sum of money to a friend in what investigators consider as an attempt to hide the money from authorities.
