African Union to form 7,500 Multinational Joint Task Force to Fight Boko Haram

The African Union plan to send 7,500 troops to fight against Boko Haram militants in Nigeria, Nigeria neighbours Camerounn,Chad, Niger, Benin have agreed to contribute to the AU troops.
AU Commission Chair Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma said in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia that a collective and effective response is needed to fight Boko Haram. She said that the Multinational Joint Task Force (MJTF) will have an initial mandate of 1 year.
She said it would conduct "military operations to prevent the expansion of Boko Haram and other terrorist groups' activities and eliminate their presence". The plan will be submitted to the United Nations.
Nigeria the "Giant of Africa" has repeated many times that it is capable of winning the fight against Boko Haram, and does not need international assistance. It is not yet known if the Nigerian Government's approval has been obtained.
The AU Commission chair said that the MJTF may operate as a border patrol protecting Nigerian neighbours.
