First female Bishop named in Church of England

                        



The Church of England has appointed its first female bishop. For women to be ordained bishop a
change was made to the church canon law in 17th of November 2014.  Reverend Libby Lane is the new Bishop of Stockport. Women were allowed to be ordained priest 20 years ago in England. There 1,781 Church of England female priests.
