54 Soldiers sentenced to firing squad in Nigeria




54 Nigerian soldiers have been sentenced to death yesterday for mutiny, assault, cowardice and refusing to fight Islamic extremist. Their charges were connected to the allegation that they refused to fight Boko haram. Five other soldiers were acquitted. Soldiers posted to the north east Nigeria have always complained about lack of weapons and ammunition. Counsel to the 54 accused soldiers Femi Falana SAN confirmed that the soldiers have been convicted and sentenced to death by firing squad.
