The only black full time driver in NASCAR (National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing), Bubba Wallace 26, saw a noose on Sunday afternoon in his garage.
The hangman’s noose has long been linked with racism, hatred and bigotry in the United States. The symbol is linked to the lynching (a term for a punishment without trial) of African-Americans by white mobs following the Civil War. Bubba has spoken is support of the Black Lives Matter Movement and he even wore the " I can't breath" Tee shirt and even repainted his car with the Black Lives Matter phrase. On Monday Bubba's car was pushed to the start of the race in Talladega, Alabama by his felow drivers in response to the noose incidence 24 hours earlier.
"This is probably the most badass moment right here," he said to FOX Sports. "This sport is changing. The deal that happened yesterday ... I wanted to show whoever it was that you're not going to take away my smile. I'm going to keep on going."All in all, we won today. The pre-race deal was probably one of the hardest things I've ever had to witness in my life. ... This is truly incredible, and I'm proud be a part of this sport," Wallace said
