A man has been fined nearly £500 for farting in front of police officers

SAALFELDEN, AUSTRIA - OCTOBER: A Police officers stand guard at an election campaign rally of the right-wing Austria Freedom Party (FPOe) on October 6, 2017 in Saalfelden, Austria. Austria will hold legislative elections on October 15 and the conservative party (OeVP) of Sebastian Kurz is currently narrowly in the lead. The FPOe is in a strong, third place in polls. Since the Austrian Social Democrats (SPOe) have indicated they will likely decline from joining a coalition with the conservative OeVP, the next Austrian government could well be a coalition that includes the FPOe, a party that has taken a hard stance against immigration and Islam. A man in Vienna has been fined nearly £500 for farting provocatively in front of police officers. Austrian police were forced to defend the penalty after the Österreich newspaper revealed the man had been punished for ‘offending public decency’ on June 5. Officers argued that the offender was uncooperative and behaving provocatively with officers leading up to the incident. They wrote on Twitter that the man had been sitting on a park bench before getting up, looking at them and letting go a ‘massive intestinal wind apparently with full intent’.
