Catholic Priest Jailed for assaulting children

In Britain a catholic priest have been found guilty of sexually abusing a teenage boy in a care home. Reverend Father Anthony McSweeney has been jailed for 3 years. The boy was 15 year when the offence was committed. The boy was targeted because he was vulnerable. he assaulted the boy with his friend who was the manager of the care home in west London where the boy lived. In his defence Father Sweeney said that he is too fat that he cannot fit a boy on him. He used the same defence when he was accused of molesting boys between 1979 and 1981. His friend John Stingemore who was the care home manager of Grafton close children's Home in Hounslow West London died in January before the trial.

During the trial, it emerged the Catholic Church nearly dropped him when his cleaner found sex toys, truncheons and indecent videos of teenage boys at St Peter's Catholic Church in Essex in 1998.
But after six months he was moved to a new parish, St George's, in Norwich - after he was threatened with being "banished" from the priesthood, the court heard. During the trial the priest confessed to watching children in the shower and collected indecent video of children.Judge McCreath added that McSweeney posed a "high risk of serious harm" to children, via sexual assault and exploitation through sexual images.
