EFCC re-arraingns Mama Boko haram and 2 others for fraud

                                          

                           



The Maiduguri zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday, September 1, 2020, re-arraigned the Chief Executive Officer( CEO) of Complete Care and Aid Foundation, Aisha Alkali Wakil, popularly known as Mama Boko Haram, before Justice Aisha Kumaliya of the Borno State High Court, Maiduguri, on amended four-count charges bordering on conspiracy, giving false information and cheating to the tune of N6million.

After the amendment of the charge the defendants was asked to take her plea.

One of the charges read, “That you, Aisha Alkali Wakil, Tahiru Alhaji Saidu Daura and Prince Lawal Shoyode whilst being chief executive officer, programme manager and country director respectively, of Complete Care and Aid Foundation (Non-Governmental Organisation), sometime between October and November, 2018 at Maiduguri, Borno State within the jurisdiction of this honourable court, dishonestly induced one Alhaji Bukar Kachalla of Abks Ventures Limited to deliver to you a Toyota Camry 2012 Model worth N6,000,000.00 (Six Million Naira) only under the guise of executing a contract for the purchase of the said car and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 320 (a) and punishable under Section 332 of the Penal Code Cap 102 Laws of Borno State.”

                    


They pleaded not guilty, following which counsel to the second and third defendants, H. Waziri, prayed the court for an adjournment to enable him study the new charges with a view to applying for a plea bargain agreement with the EFCC.

Consequently, Justice Kumaliya adjourned the matter till September 16, 2020 for commencement of trial.

Mama Boko Haram was originally arraigned, alongside the programme manager of her Foundation, Tahiru Saidu Daura and the country director, Prince Lawal Shoyode on December 4, 2019. Their trial followed their no guilty plea to the charges.

Nigeria Central Bank Governor Breached The Quarantine To Fly Family To The UK

                 Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Godwin Emefiele, used a private jet to fly his wife and children to the United Kingdom in violation of the closure of the Nigerian airspace during COVID-19 lockdown across the country. The Nigerian Government had announced that only essential travels will be permitted by air across the country but flight manifest sighted by SaharaReporters shows that  Emefiele used a private jet – a Global Express Bombardier 550 luxury jet with registration number N104DA – belonging to businessman, Aliko Dangote. The former King of Spain leaves the country over alleged corruption

Spain's former monarch King Juan Carlos has left the country amid accusations he had a £58.5 million stashed in an offshore account.  The Spain authorities opened an investigation involving Juan Carlos in a high speed rail in Saudi Arabia. The money was alleged to be given to Juan Carlos by the former king of Saudi Arabia King Abdullah. His destination is unknown but he said he would be available if prosecutors needed to interview him. The Spanish royal family website published a letter from Juan Carlos to his son King Felipe VI on Monday saying, "I am informing you of my considered decision to move during this period, out of Spain."    The report against the former King of Spain alleged that he transferred a large sum of money to a friend in what investigators consider as an attempt to hide the money from authorities.
