  Silvio Berlusconi, Italy’s former prime minister, has tested positive for coronavirus. The 83-year-old is currently in isolation at his home near Milan, according to a statement issued by his staff. It added that he would continue to contribute to the electoral campaigns of candidates from his Forza Italia party at local elections scheduled for September. Mr Berlusconi has served as PM in four governments, holding the role for a total of nine years.

          Psychologist Robert Child, 37, admits that he murdered his mum Janice but denies he killed her for financial gain. According to Liverpool Echo, he is claimed to have had £32,000 of debt at the time of his mum's death. His mum's body was found locked in the utility room of her home in Woolton, Liverpool, on March 6. A Newton hearing at Liverpool Crown Court heard the day before his mum's body was found Child transferred £25,000 from her bank account into his.            The Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Victory has arrested a 16-year-old and seven other suspected smugglers of 1,522 bags of foreign bags of rice in Calabar, Cross River. The Commander of NNS Victory, Commodore Idi Abbas, told journalists on Wednesday that the suspects were intercepted in two batches. Abbas said that the first group of four men were arrested on Sunday around Tom Short Island with a large wooden boat containing 1,482 bags of foreign parboiled rice while the second group was arrested on the 28 of August.
